Our products contain easily biodegradable ingredients. Why 'easily' and not 'completely'? Very few substances are 100% biodegradable, whether of synthetic or natural origin. For example, minerals cannot be said to be biodegradable. Biodegradability only works for purely organic substances or compounds. Claims like 'completely biodegradable' can also be misleading because the time frame must always be taken into account.

As beautiful as the term 'environmentally friendly' is, we are very careful not to use it. That might sound surprising because our products do avoid plastic waste and unnecessary chemical burdens and save CO2 emissions. BUT: No household cleaner and no cosmetic product in the world can really be 'environmentally friendly' or 'gentle on the environment'. Washing, cleaning, rinsing, showering... all these everyday actions are always associated with a certain environmental impact. What distinguishes our products is that they reduce this environmental impact to the bare minimum and that we continuously work to make them even more environmentally compatible.

Palm oil is criticized. Justifiably! The environmental impact and the social conditions of palm oil production are a problem. However, simply replacing palm oil with other vegetable oils is not a solution – because that is often even worse for the environment. Alternatives like coconut, sunflower, or rapeseed oil require significantly more land and would thus cause even higher greenhouse gas emissions. So, the problem is not just the use of palm oil, but especially the considerable consumption in all areas of our lives.

Therefore, the solution is the most economical use of this valuable resource and intensified research into truly more sustainable alternatives. For the performance of detergents and cleaning agents, palm oil-based surfactants are currently indispensable. We have not yet found the perfect solution and use palm oil in as small quantities as possible and only where absolutely necessary: This palm oil is RSPO-certified and was produced according to strict ecological & social criteria! In the interest of sustainability, we always weigh very carefully between the lowest environmental impact and health compatibility. Some everdrop products contain synthetic ingredients – but these are not automatically worse for humans and the environment than natural ingredients. Example fragrances: Here, synthetic substances are often 'better' than natural ones because their production explicitly avoids substances that have a significantly worse/higher risk or allergy potential. Also, a purely natural fragrance that smells particularly long-lasting and intense might be harder to degrade. Thus, natural fragrances are often worse for the environment and people than synthetic ones.

Other non-natural ingredients we use are so-called complexing agents (softeners), preservatives, and flow agents – which are not automatically 'synthetic' but at least 'partially synthetic'. The background is that these are not present in nature 1:1 or are synthetically replicated to protect nature due to the required quantities.

In our glass cleaner, there is also a synthetically produced surfactant, and in our products with 'active oxygen' (oxygen-based bleach), TAED is included as a bleach activator based on petroleum components. This is necessary so that we can achieve optimal effectiveness at cold application and washing temperatures in the interest of sustainability.

The term "organic" refers to raw materials from organic farming. We endeavour to find "organic" certified manufacturers for all the natural raw materials we use: For example, our ingredients safflower oil, oat oil, olive oil and aloe vera, which we use in our skincare products, are all organically grown and therefore certified organic.
